I think that this would be a good idea. Are there any plans to extend the cabling so that we can receive the local station. When I lived in the centre of the village I enjoyed watching the local chanel immensely and miss it now we have moved down to the new urbanisation.

Yes, it sounds like a good local project. How will our language deficiencies be dealt with?! Dubbing? Sub-titles? And might the film include comments from a few Spanish residents too: our friends, neighbours and people whose income we contribute to (plumbers, electricians, carpenters, shopkeepers, bar managers etc)? We could each perhaps suggest a couple of people who we think genuinely see our presence here as positive for the town. And presumably non-British/Belgian foreign residents, who may not read this English-language website, would be encouraged to participate?

Thank you for your post. Please note that the SdY cable channels are private companies, so please enquire directly. Thank you.

Thank you for your post. Your suggestions will be conveyed to the producer. As regards non British/Belgian foreign residents , note that most of these speak either reasonable, good and some very good Spanish (and a lot of them English as well) so many read both pages. Those who do not have a computer generally keep themselves informed through the local grapevine in the local lingo. Should this project go through, details will be advertised well in advance. Thank you.

Does that mean that you are too shy to participate or that, although you are shy, you do want to participate ?

Most of the immigrant population of the village get on and are perfectly polite. After all, a polite "Good morning!" never hurt anyone, now did it? But it would make for some fairly uninteresting TV. Remember, Big Brother and the Celebrities in the Jungle programme only ensured high ratings by showing the dysfunctional side of the groups.

So wouldn't it be a good idea to have a TV program made up of all the petty squabbles mainly in and around Coronation Street, and to base it around those English people who either walk past looking the other way, nose in the air or simply make a very obvious point of showing their ignorance by turning the other way when someone has the audacity to say "Good morning; and how are you today?" to them when they are seated at a table on the village square.

We all know who they are and I am sure it would make a fascinating anthropological and sociological study. Who knows? It may even make national (UK and Spain) television. The producer would become famous as the person who showed what life was REALLY like for immigrants in an inland Spanish village. It may even compare unfavourably with the plight of immigrant communities in UK. Let's face it, whenever we say hello to a Spanish local we are greeted with a smile and a reply.

Life is made up of choices.
We choose how we react to people and to situations.
If we feel bad that is our choice. If we feel good that is also our choice, but a better one.
